When someone pays you back (or you pay what you owed), record the payment in KUENTAS so the balance updates correctly.
What's a payment?
A payment is a money transfer between participants to settle debts. It's not a trip expense — it's a way to even out the accounts.
Expense
Paying for something on the trip (hotel, food, entry, etc.)
Payment
Transferring money to another participant to settle a debt
How to record a payment
Enter the trip
Open the trip where you want to record the payment.
Go to the balance
Tap the balance section or "View debts".
Select the debt
Find the debt you want to settle and tap it or the "Record payment" button.
Confirm the amount
Check the payment amount. You can change it if the payment is partial.
Save the payment
Tap "Record" to confirm. The balance will update automatically.
Partial payment
If someone pays you only part of what they owe, you can record a partial payment:
- Select the debt
- Change the amount to what you actually received
- The system will recalculate the remaining debt
You can record payments you made or payments made to you. KUENTAS automatically detects who's paying who based on the balance.
Payment methods
KUENTAS doesn't process real payments. It only records that a payment happened. You can pay however you want:
- Cash
- Bank transfer
- Venmo, PayPal, etc.
- Any other method
Make sure the actual payment has been made before recording it in KUENTAS. The app trusts that recorded payments are real.
Delete a payment
If you recorded a payment by mistake:
- Go to the trip's payment history
- Find the payment you want to delete
- Tap it and select "Delete"
- The balance will go back to what it was before
