Delete an expense

If you added an expense by mistake or it's no longer relevant, you can delete it. This action will affect the trip's balances.

How to delete an expense

Open the trip

Go to the trip that has the expense.

Find the expense

Look for it in the expense list.

Tap the expense

Open the expense detail.

Tap "Delete"

Use the trash icon or the "Delete" button.

Confirm

Tap "Delete" in the confirmation prompt.

Irreversible action

Once deleted, the expense can't be recovered. Balances will be recalculated automatically.

Who can delete expenses?

  • Your expenses: You can delete any expense you created
  • Others' expenses: Only the trip creator can delete expenses from other participants

Participants get notified of the change

Alternative: Edit instead of delete

If the expense has an error but is otherwise valid, consider editing it instead of deleting it. That way you keep the history and only fix what's needed.

Tip

If you deleted an expense by mistake, you can re-create it manually with the same details.
