Not every expense splits evenly. KUENTAS lets you customize exactly how each expense is divided among participants.
Split types
Equal shares
The amount is split evenly among the selected people
By percentage
Each person pays a different percentage
By amount
You specify exactly how much each person pays
By shares
One person pays 2 shares, another pays 1, etc.
Percentage split
Useful when you want someone to pay more or less proportionally.
In the expense, tap "Split"
Open the split options for the expense.
Choose "By percentage"
Select this split type.
Assign percentages
Enter what percentage each person pays. They must add up to 100%.
Example: Dinner of $1000. Juan pays 50%, María 30%, Pedro 20%.
- Juan: $500
- María: $300
- Pedro: $200
Exact amount split
When you already know exactly how much each person owes.
Choose "By amount"
In the split options.
Enter the amounts
Type how much each person owes. They must add up to the expense total.
Example: Grocery shopping $800. María bought $500 worth, Juan $300.
Shares split
Ideal when someone consumed more than others.
Choose "By shares"
In the split options.
Assign shares
Indicate how many shares each person gets.
Example: Lunch $900. Juan had the main course and dessert (2 shares), María just the main course (1 share).
- Total shares: 3
- Value per share: $300
- Juan: $600 (2 shares)
- María: $300 (1 share)
Exclude participants
If someone didn't take part in the expense, just leave them out of the split:
- Uncheck their name in the participant list
- Or set them to 0% / $0 / 0 shares
The split can be changed later by editing the expense. Don't stress if it's not perfect the first time.
