Welcome to KUENTAS! This guide will walk you through creating your first trip and start splitting expenses with your friends.
What's a trip in KUENTAS?
A trip is where you and your friends track all shared expenses. It can be a vacation, a weekend getaway, or even day-to-day shared costs like rent.
Group trips
You can add up to 50 participants to a single trip. Everyone can log expenses and see the balance in real time.
Create a new trip
To create a trip, follow these steps:

Go to the "Add" tab
In the bottom bar of the app, tap the + (Add) icon in the center.

Fill in the trip details
Enter the trip name (e.g. "Europe 2026"), the destination, start and end dates, and optionally a description.

Choose the main currency
Select the currency you want to see totals in. You can change it later if needed.

Add a cover image
Tap the camera icon to take a photo or pick one from your gallery. You can adjust the position by dragging the image.

Confirm and create
Review the summary and tap "Create trip". Done! Your trip is created.
Tip
If you're visiting multiple countries, you can add them from the "Countries visited" option. This helps you organize expenses better and see stats by country.
Add participants
Once the trip is created, the next step is to invite your friends:
Invite code
Every trip has a unique 6-letter code (e.g. ABC123). Share it with your friends so they can join.
There are three ways to invite participants:
- Code: Share the code and your friends enter it in the app
- QR: Show the QR code for them to scan with their camera
- Link: Send the direct link via WhatsApp or any messaging app
Log your first expense
Now that you've created the trip, it's time to log your first expense:

Open the trip
From the main screen, tap the trip you just created.

Tap "Add expense"
Use the floating + button or the "Add expense" option in the menu.

Fill in the details
Enter the description (e.g. "Lunch"), the amount, and select the category and who paid.

Choose how to split
By default it's split equally among everyone. You can change this by tapping "Split" and choosing another option.
Automatic splitting
KUENTAS automatically calculates who owes whom. Just log the expenses and the app handles the rest.
View balances
After logging a few expenses, you can check how things stand:
- Summary: Shows the total spent and each person's balance
- Who owes whom: Clear list of pending debts
- Charts: Visualize expenses by category
Real-time balances
All participants see the same numbers updated instantly. No confusion, no spreadsheets.
