KUENTAS works even when you don't have an internet connection. You can log expenses, view your trips, and do everything you need. When you're back online, everything syncs automatically.
How does it work?
No connection
Log expenses, edit info, and use the app normally
Automatic sync
When you're back online, everything syncs without you doing a thing
What you can do offline
- View your trips and all saved information
- Create new trips (they sync when you're back online)
- Add expenses new ones
- Edit expenses existing ones
- Delete expenses
- Register payments between participants
- Add income to the shared fund
- Edit and delete income from the shared fund
- Manage the checklist (create, edit, delete, and check off items)
- Set budgets by category
- View balances calculated with local data
- Check history of expenses and cached stats
When you're offline, you'll see an indicator at the top of the screen saying "No connection". Your changes are saved locally.
What you can't do offline
- Invite participants — Requires syncing with the server to generate the code
- Upload photos — Photos are saved locally and uploaded when you're back online
- See others' changes — You won't see expenses others added while you were offline
- Use AI features — The assistant, OCR, and predictions need internet
Syncing
When you get your connection back:
Automatic detection
KUENTAS detects when you're back online.
Sending changes
All the expenses and changes you made offline are sent.
Receiving updates
Changes made by other participants are downloaded.
All up to date
You'll see updated balances with all the information.
Operations queue
All actions you perform offline are saved in an encrypted queue on your device. You can accumulate up to 50 operations without connection. If you get close to the limit, the app will let you know.
Pending operations are stored encrypted on your device. Only you can access them.
Offline mode is perfect when you're traveling abroad without mobile data, or when you're in areas with bad signal.
Conflicts
If you and another participant edited the same expense while offline, KUENTAS automatically detects the conflict. The server's version is kept and your operation is marked as failed so you can review it and retry if needed.
